Post-Swimming Activities

Thank goodness our backyard is relatively secluded, the neighbors might just kick us out of the neighborhood if they knew how these boys love to run around nude after a good swim.

Exploring Nature

Sam and Tyler enjoyed exploring and finding new trees and bushes and animal tracks along the hike. Here you can see them yelling out the numbers by the trees so that I can tell them what it is called (I have the legend on the map, of course, I am not too familiar with indigenous Texas flora and fauna).

Hiking at Friedrich Wilderness Park

We had a great morning today, hiking at a new location for us. Sam did great, a Level 4 hiking trail (the most difficult) for about 2 miles and no complaining, except that we didn't see an armadillo. Sam was a good leader on the trail, always telling me where to step so that Tyler and I didn't tumble down the trail. Tyler was a nice partner always pointing out the leaves and the butterflies. As we were driving home, Sam said: "Mommy, can we come back and hike tomorrow?" I think he really enjoyed it.

Men's Bathroom

Sam went to the Men's Restroom alone for the first time, he told me, "mommy, I can do it, don't worry, I won't talk to strangers". And do it he did...great job, Sam, what a big boy.

A Year with Frog and Toad

Tyler saw his first play on Saturday, a rendition of Frog and Toad, which was really great. Here you see the boys with the actors, Frog and Toad (you can see they were not green and brown, so a bit difficult to tell them apart). The boys loved it and they got autographs to boot. Very fun day!

Shabbat Shalom Hey!

We finished off Apples with Abba with the weekly "Shabbat Shalom Hey!", filled with jumping and dancing and lots of singing.

Apples with "Abba"

While Abba is away in Iraq, Ema took the lead and celebrated Rosh Hashanah with the boys' classes for "Apples with Abba" day at school. Sam's class really outdid themselves, cooking up some butterscotch and chocolate dipped apples and jimmies, very fun indeed. I think that Mike will be heading to "Muffins with Mom" this spring!
